I lift up my eyes to the hills - where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, Maker of heaven and earth. - Psalm 121:1-2

Elbert Hubbard quotes
I have no idea who Elbert Hubbard was, but I have recently stumbled onto some of his quotes (more here) that have certainly clicked with me...
- "Don't take life too seriously. You'll never get out of it alive."
- "Editor: a person employed by a newspaper, whose business it is to separate the wheat from the chaff, and to see that the chaff is printed."
- "Many a man's reputation would not know his character if they met on the street."
- "Never explain--your friends do not need it and your enemies will not believe you anyway."
- "God will not look you over for medals, degrees or diplomas but for scars."
- "He who does not understand your silence will probably not understand your words."
- "The line between failure and success is so fine. . . that we are often on the line and do not know it."
- "Every man is a damn fool for at least five minutes every day; wisdom consists in not exceeding the limit."
- "It is easy to get everything you want, provided you first learn to do without the things you cannot get."
- "Parties who want milk should not seat themselves on a stool in the middle of the field in hope that the cow will back up to them."

Whitney Houston Sings the National Anthem
This is one of the best versions of The Star Spangled Banner ever... Whitney Houston prior to Super Bowl XXV. A classic... ran across it again recently, and love to listen to it. I love to see how much pleasure she has in singing it as well...

Do you glorify God in your movie watching?
I put this here, not because I have arrived, but because I need to hear things that challenge me to live for Christ...
Works and Grace
'If you feel that you deserve an answer to prayer or a spiritual blessing from God because of your hard work or sacrifice, you are living by works, not by grace. But it is just as true that if you sometimes despair of experiencing God's blessing because of your demerits - the "oughts" you should have done but didn't or the "don'ts" you shouldn't have done but did - you are also casting aside the grace of God.'
