But it also taught us loyalty to each other - and love. That esprit de corps sustained us." - pg. 344I just finished reading this the other night. I have been working my way through it slowly for quite some time. It is an amazing story of what American troops went through during the battles of Peleliu and Okinawa during the end of World War II. As we get close to Memorial Day on Monday, it is an incredible account of what war is really like. I felt that the quote above summed up much of the book's general theme. However, there is much more to be gained by reading the whole story.
